How to Calculate Coating Coverage and Order Quantity
Estimate coating quantity from area, coats, TDS coverage, substrate adjustment, application loss, and contingency.

Direct answer
Base formula: theoretical quantity = area × coats ÷ single-coat TDS coverage. Then adjust for substrate and application loss, add contingency, and round up to available packs. If the TDS already states coverage for two coats, do not multiply the coat count again.
Identify the TDS unit
Coverage may use m²/kg/coat, m²/L/coat, kg/m², or an area explicitly covering two coats. Units and coat meaning cannot be mixed.
Common formulas
Single-coat coverage: quantity = area × coats ÷ coverage.
Consumption per area: quantity = area × stated consumption.
The supplied renovation sheets state 1 kg per 5–6 m² for two coats, so divide area by 5–6 without multiplying by two again.
Site adjustment
Rough or absorbent substrates, large color changes, and many details can increase quantity. Spray, roller, trowel, and crew practice affect loss.
