How to Select and Apply Renovation Paint
A source-based guide to substrate checks, application conditions, coverage, recoating, and curing for renovation coatings.

Direct answer
Start with substrate stability, dryness, and cleanliness, then select a one- or two-component system according to the service environment and application plan. The supplied sheets state above 10°C, below 75% RH, and approximately 1 kg per 5–6 m² for two coats; validate the final system by sample and current batch documentation.
Inspect before choosing color
Dust, oil, loose paint, dampness, and very smooth substrates can determine success more than color selection.
Fully polished or glazed tile requires a reviewed adhesion method rather than a generic direct-coat assumption.
- Sound, clean, dry substrate
- Small adhesion and color sample
- Separate review for kitchens and wet areas
One- versus two-component
The one-component sheet describes direct use. The two-component version uses an enhancer that must be added once, with mixed material used within the stated eight-hour window.
System choice should follow substrate, service zone, work organization, and maintenance needs.
Application window
Both sheets require ventilation, temperatures above 10°C, and RH below 75%. Reference values at 25°C and 50% RH are about 30 minutes surface dry, 24 hours through dry, and four hours to recoat.
Avoid scratching and soaking before full cure; the sheets use seven days as the point for improved water and wear performance.
Information buyers should provide
A useful quotation requires more than a price-per-kilogram request.
- Substrate and photographs
- Interior/exterior and dry/wet zone
- Area and target color
- Required delivery date
- Sample, TDS, SDS, or report needs
Frequently asked questions
Can renovation paint go directly over tile?
Not universally. Clean and abrade the surface, and review adhesion for polished or glazed tile with a sample first.
How many coats are required?
The supplied one- and two-component sheets specify two roller or spray coats, subject to substrate and sample approval.
When can the surface get wet?
Avoid soaking before full cure. The supplied sheets reference seven days before assessing improved water and wear performance.
